Ok, so I'm pulling some decent horsepower numbers - a lot of guys are here. Long story short, sometime after my buildup, the manual tranny developed a whine. I replaced it with a brand new unit last summer (3k miles ago). Last fall, it developed the same whine and I had it diagnosed today. The dealer says its horsepower related and there was erosion on 4th gear - hence the whine. He says this is what happens when you drive fast for extended periods. Say what? The dealer will NOT cover the tranny in anyway. I certainly drive fast out in the country, but this car is driven about 20 times a year. It is NOT abused - I have way too much money in it to do that. This was a new tranny. Has anyone had similar problems. I have not heard of a single transmission item I should be aware of when running higher horsepower. Please enlighten me if I've missed something - not crazy about departing with ANOTHER $2800. Now they are saying I should run Redline Shock Proof tranny fluid - I was using Redline.
